Energy Management System in Serbia

UNDP Serbia

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global network of the United Nations working in 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. It helps countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and build resilience in order to sustain development results.

UNDP is active in Serbia since 1952, and since 2000 it has supported it in the achievement of sustainable development on its way of post-conflict recovery and accession to the European Union.

The UN and its partners in Serbia are working towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals: 17 interconnected and ambitious Goals which address the major development challenges faced by people in Serbia and around the world. The goals that the UN is working on in Serbia are: No poverty (SDG 1), Zero hunger (SDG 2), Good health and well-being (SDG 3), Quality education (SDG 4), Gender equality (SDG 5), Clean water and sanitation (SDG 6), Affordable and clean energy (SDG 7), Decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), Industry, innovation and infrastructure (SDG 9), Reduced inequalities (SDG 10), Sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), Responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), Climate action (SDG 13), Life below water (SDG 14), Life on land (SDG 15), Peace, justice, and strong institutions (SDG 16), and Partnerships for the goals (SDG 17).

UNDP is the Development Partner in the implementation of the project "Enhancing the Energy Management System to Scale up Energy Efficiency Investments in Public Buildings in Serbia".

UNDP participates in the work of the Project Board, which is responsible for taking corrective measures as necessary to ensure that the project achieves the desired results.

As a development partner of the project, UNDP supervises, monitors and verifies the project activities, monitors and supervises the the expenditure of funds by the Implementing and Responsible Partner and regularly reports on the implementation of the project to the GEF (Global Environment Facility).
